It’s Friday, “Cheers to the freakin’ weekend” (Rihanna). It looks like we have a winner for the Three Boutique “Roxy Girl” poster. Thanks to everyone who voted. For those of you who aren’t constantly plugged into the Facebook stratosphere. Winding Violets was recently approached by Three Boutique to do a special Roxy promotion for the shop. This particular promotion will result in a huge poster to cover the storefront window in Downtown Kingston. This shoot was right up our alley, totally editorial. We assembled our crack team, and the photos turned out beautifully. Here is a link to the Facebook Album if you’re interested in taking a peek: Roxy Girl for Three Boutique.
Speaking of the weekend though, we thought for this particular engagement session we’d post on a Friday. It’s not uncommon for us to have a quick drink with our couples before we get them in front of the camera. That’s, “a quick drink with our couples“, not “a couple of quick drinks.” It can really take the edge off, helps get your guard down, and is a great icebreaker. In fact I’m sure that’s where the term comes from? Someone look that up…”to the google machine!” With Whitney and Gavin we started at the ever so popular Red House, downtown Kingston. Whitney and Gavin know one of the owner’s quite well and wanted to get a few images at the pub before we bravely ventured onto the streets of Downtown Kingston.
You’ve got to love the atmosphere in Red House, those lovely Edison bulbs in the iron light fixtures and the solid wood banquet style tables. The open concept layout really makes for an inviting atmosphere. One that encourages mingling with those around you, even if you didn’t come with them. A true pub, or “public house” which is where the word comes from. Happy weekend everyone, and congratulations Whitney and Gavin!
